A Sweet Smelling Savour
We have been learning in the last couple of days how God perceives us and scriptures in 2 Corinthians 2:15 made us understand that we are a sweet fragrance of Christ unto God. Fragrance or savour talks about a pleasant aroma or smell meaning that God perceives us by how pleasing our lives are to Him according to the pattern of the Christ.
Our opening scripture tells us about the time of Noah when God instructed him to build an ark because God was to destroy the earth with rain. The preceding verse says And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.
It will amaze you to recognize that God has a sensory perception. It took a sacrifice for God to smell a sweet savour and when God perceived it, it struck a satisfaction in God’s heart and for that reason God said he would not for any reason curse the ground for man’s sake.
There is something about God perceiving the fragrance of our lives. In the Old Testament, the only way they could offer it to God was to offer sacrifices and the sacrifice that matters are the sacrifice that is based on blood. Remember Cain and Abel as they offered sacrifices to the Lord. Abel’s sacrifice was accepted and Cain’s was rejected. The reason why Cain’s was rejected was because his sacrifice was not based on the blood. And the Lord told him in Genesis 4:7a If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? There is something about doing well in the sight of the Lord. Tomorrow, we would continue on this discuss.
