A Worthy Vessel

Text: 2Tim. 2:21
"If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work"

Yesterday we started by letting us know that God can only make use of purged and cleaned vessels. God purges you by letting you go through the school of the wilderness.

In the dispensation of grace, God sends you to the school of wilderness by sending you to the school of the word. Do not forget that Jesus is the person of the Word.

Firstly, God seeks to take you back to the scriptures; 2Tim.2:15 reads “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”. So being excited as the word comes is not enough, God ultimately wants to make you a worthy vessel.

Eph.5:26 tells us “That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word.” There is purification that the word must do in your life. God sends the word that matter for the vessel he wants you to be. Why God takes you to the word first is because the scriptures (the law), is God’s vehicle to bring us to Christ Gal. 3:24 “Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.”

Secondly, we have to do what the word in the flesh did to succeed which is to Pray. Matt. 14:23 says “And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray and when the evening was come, he was there alone”. I have said it countlessly, if you cannot pray in this season, there is nothing anyone can do for you.

So, in receiving that word, it works out who you need to become, and prayer consecrates and energizes you to becoming that vessel unto honour, because the last revival that God is releasing must be carried by worthy vessels.
