An Hedge!

Text: Ecclesiastes 10:8
"He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him.” "

The Bible gives us different descriptions of who the devil is and what he does. The Bible calls him the accuser of the brethren and he accuses them before God, day and night (Revelation 12:10). But the Bible tells us he has another assignment; as a roaring lion, he walks about seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). The devil is not walking about devouring men rather he is seeking whom he may devour. The reason is that he does not originally have the right. He looks for the believer that does not live by the laws of the Spirit.

The devil goes around seeking whom he may devour but as he does that, he equally stands before God, day and night, fighting hard to accuse the believer. Our opening scripture tells us the serpent will bite anyone that breaks an hedge. T

he Bible also shows us a discussion between God and Job in Job 1:8-10 “And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.”

You see, words matter a lot and from the words people speak, you can hear their heart. Satan’s answer shows that he had been seeking a way to access Job and constantly he found that there was protection. The devil recognised that there was a protective shield around Job and all that he had.
