Bank Of Heaven: Supernatural Sustenance

Text: 1 Kings 17:4
"And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there". "

In our previous study, we were able to establish that God has an intent for us and that there are proofs of God’s supernatural provision and sustenance all through scriptures.

The story of Prophet Elijah is an example of God’s supernatural sustenance. In the preceeding verses of our opening text, the Prophet had declared that there shall be no rain in the land, meaning there was going to be famine.

In the midst of this, God made provision for Elijah, food and water. It was a complete work, just like He provided manna and quail for the children of israel in the wilderness. When Elijah was running out, God directed him on the next step to take;

“Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.” 1 Kings 17:9. This makes us realize that God doesn’t just provide for us, He sustains us.

How do we access this sustenance? One common factor in the story of Elijah and that of the children of Israel from today’s diet is their OBEDIENCE. Choose to follow and obey God’s plan for the God-child.
