Beyond Salvation
Many of God’s people have not come to understand God’s idea about Salvation. God did not just send Jesus to the earth, so he could die and resurrect then we accept him and that is all. The question that got hold of my spirit several years ago was “Now that I’ve received Christ as my Lord and Savior, what’s next? You see, this is the reason so many find Christianity boring, because they just receive the Lord Jesus, and do not know the next thing to do, or what the next plan is.
Our opening scripture gives us an insight into God’s idea for man. Observe closely that God used the phrase, “Let Us”. So, one would want to ask who was God talking to when He said let us make man. God is a triune Being or as we generally call it Trinity, meaning Three but one or three in one. The bible in 1 John 5:7 gives us a clearer picture. It says for there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. So, when God said, “let us”, He was primarily referring to his trinity but at the same time revealing that for man to arrive at His plan for Humanity, man would have to Journey with Him in this Trinity.
Something else to take note of in our opening scripture is that God said he would make man in his image and Likeness, This means two different things. The image of God means the express mirror of God’s person and throughout scripture, we see just one man that was referred to as the express image of God, JESUS. It says in Hebrews 1:3a- Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power. Man on the other hand before Jesus walked the earth as God’s likeness. Tomorrow, we would go further in this journey.
