Bond Or Free

Text: 1 Corinthians 7:22
"For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord's freeman: likewise, also he that is called, being free, is Christ's servant"

Every believer has got to pay attention to the principles of the kingdom. It pays to pay attention to them because you can love God all you want and serve Him all you want but as long as you do not pay attention to the principles of the kingdom, you will be removed from the realities of the kingdom. Our opening scripture shows us 2 categories of believers; those who are the Lord’s freeman and those who are His servants or bondsman. Every one of us belong to either of these and you have to always ask yourself at every stage in life, am I the Lord’s freeman or bondman?

1 Corinthians 12:13 tells us “For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit”. This scripture shows us 2 things. In the body of Christ, you are either a Jew or gentile referring to our origin and you are either bond or free. It will be unwise not to recognize which category you fall in because God is going to respond to you based on the category, you are in. There are demands of the spirit that will be affected in your life based on where you belong because in this kingdom, some of us are bond and some are free.

Bond here does not refer to physical or spiritual bondage. Verse 21 of our opening scripture, the amplified rendering says Were you a slave when you were called? Do not let that trouble you. But if you are able to gain your freedom, avail yourself of the opportunity. In our present day, this does not connote actual slavery rather it depicts one that does not have full control of his/her time with regards to earning. So, when you are called to the Lord already in this state, do not be troubled. God already identifies you as His freeman. Tomorrow, we delve deeper in this topic.
