Make The Word Indelible
Many Christians seem to consider the word of God stale when they hear a particular topic or subject in the word more than once. This attitude makes the word not to have a lasting impression.
Let me illustrate this with a little story. Some years ago, I visited a cave being led by the tour guide who told us about the first man that lived in the cave many years ago. The man had some inscriptions on the cave; a cave is usually like a rock in the ground. How was this man able to carve some symbols and inscriptions on the rock? This must have taken a year or more of continuous rewritings. It is said that repetition is the key to a lasting impression. Our opening text above did not say give attention to the things we are going to hear rather to what we have heard.
The first way to get the word deeply rooted is by confessing the word everywhere. Deut. 11:19-20 “And ye shall teach them your children speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way and when thou liest down and when thou risest up. And thou shall write them upon the door post of thine house’. Continue to speak the word till it takes a hold of you.
The second way is by writing it down. When you receive the word write it down. You must have a journal for recording spiritual things. Moreso, bit is easier to go back to the things you’ve been taught in the word when they are written down.
Create a word-based environment such that every corner you turn you see the word. Paste it everywhere around you. When you do these, the word will become deep into your spirit and mind. It will be indelible.
