Partial & Complete Obedience (3)

Text: 1 Samuel 15:23
"For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness as Iniquity as idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king"

For the past two days, the subject of partial and complete obedience was discussed. It was understood that our obedience to God can be ascertained from three views. The first being partial obedience, the second, forced obedience. The third is total obedience: total obedience to the Word of God is what God requires from His sons and daughters. Complete or total obedience to the Word of God entails that obedience is carried out with maximum detail, which includes the acts and hearts of obedience.

The excellence of a total obedience isn’t just about the execution of the instruction, but executing it with the right heart. There is no one that could have showed a perfect example of a total obedience than our Lord, Jesus Christ.  Scriptures show us the Words of Jesus in John 4: 34, saying,“My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.” You see, Jesus understood that all He would ever live for was to do what He was instructed to do, also, ensuring that He completes the work. More so, at the time of the most difficult test of obedience, Jesus cried to the Father saying, “O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.”This is total obedience to the Word of God. Learn to completely obey the Word of God even when it may seem difficult.
