Soul Winning: Prayers
As we conclude on this beautiful series today, I would love to share a vital strategy in the subject of soul winning with us – PRAYERS. Prayer is one vital, if not the most important tool in soul winning strategy, and as such, it cannot be over emphasized. It is very important that the soul winner constantly make prayers for the souls won and with them.
There is such as the ‘Strong man’ scripture tells us. In the book of Mark 3:27, it reads ‘ No man can enter a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house’. This goes to show that, whenever we pray for our souls, we bind the strong man. The heavenlies acknowledges this action and as a result, it also creates a reaction, that is a release of the souls that have been bound by the strong man.
Matthew 16:19 made us understand that this principle is true. Souls are the strong man’s goods, that means as a soul winners, whenever we fail to pray for our souls, we automatically give the strong man who is also the prince of the power of the air that walks in the children of disobedience, the legal right to have a hold on them, and if that happens, their hearts would become hardened and unreceptive to the gospel of Jesus (2 Corinthians 4:3-6).
The fact that you led them to the Lord, does not mean that they are fully free from the systems of the strong man. It would interest you to know that most believers despite saved, are still under the systems of the strong man, and one of such system is LUST (Ephesians 2:2). Lust is not of the Lord but of the world. Scripture tells us, it is born out of one’s desire and it is one force that has crippled many believers’ walk of faith.
Therefore, we must constantly contend in the place of prayers for our souls. As you pray, get the list where their names have been written, and begin to call out their names, if possible, at the least once a week, you could take out time and add a fast to it. Do this, understanding that souls are the Father’s heartbeat.
