The Blood Covenant

Yesterday, we were able to establish that a token of a covenant is a sign that reflects on the earth a heavenly order. The covenant of the blood given to the children of Israel was a token of a heavenly order that was about to bring deliverance to them.

The preceding verses of our opening text showed us that when God spoke to the children of Israel, at the point they were about to leave Egypt, the angel of death passed through Egypt to slay every first born in Egypt that was not under the divine protection by instruction of God from Moses to them. This was due to the fact that God gave them the instruction of taking the blood of a lamb without blemish and putting it on their door posts and the lintel.

God referred to the blood as a token, which indicated that the blood of the lamb as of then was according to a heavenly order that will align with the covenant of the blood of Jesus in time to come. A sign that was to align with Jesus being the lamb.

Now we understand that the blood of Jesus many years later became the blood of remission. A typology of the lamb that was to come, for Jesus was the lamb that was to take away the sins of the world as declared in scriptures (John 1: 29b), a lamb that was without blemish, without sin in order that He may bear on himself the sins of the world.

It’s amazing how this was an already established order, no wonder scripture told us that the lamb had been slain before the foundations of the world. In our next diet, we will be looking at another reflection of heavens order on the earth.

PRAYER- Dear heavenly Father, I thank You for the sacrifice of Jesus, the lamb that was slain for me even before the foundations of the earth. I have been redeemed by the blood of the lamb. Amen.
