The Gift Of God
I believe that everyone delights in receiving gifts, either for a job well done or for birthdays and special occasions. Gifts are always welcome and more exceptional when the one giving the gift is special. Now imagine receiving a gift from God, the author of the universe, the feeling is out of this world. The gift of God you did not deserve yet you received because He is God and rich in love. Hallelujah!
What qualifies you to receive the gift of God is simply being a child of God and to be a child of God is simply to receive salvation premised on the finished work of Christ. Because this gift is not physical, it may not seem or feel like you have a gift from God, but you do, and you have got to believe it. The gift does not answer to your origin or your history, it is simply the gift of God.
Observe that in our opening scripture, Paul did not say the gifts of God, he said gift. Understand that the gift of God is not the gifts of the spirit. The gift of God is what you see in Acts 2:38. It reads Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. This is the gift of God. For everyone that is saved, God has given us the gift of the Holy Ghost meaning God has given us the Holy Ghost as a gift. Glory to God!
