The GodLife: A Consciousness
The new life is first a consciousness before it becomes a reality. It is not first a confession. Confession is not just what your mouth says. Your confession is not just about what you say. It is about the spirit behind what you say. This is because many spirits can be behind what you say. For instance, scripture says in Acts 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. There are some that call upon the name of the Lord and they are not saved. A typical example is the sons of sceva in Acts 19.
These men saw Apostle Paul cast out demons and wanted to do same. Look at the response of the demon. Acts 19:15 And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? The demon questioned from where they spoke even though they called upon the name of Jesus. The demon identified two names in their speech which were Jesus and Paul but asked them to identify themselves. And the bible said when they could not, the demon pounced on them and wounded them despite their number.
Have you seen sometimes when a child of God shouts Jesus out of fear? Because you see, sometimes many of us make confessions out of fear and nothing changes. Was there a confession or a mentioning of the name Jesus? Yes, but it is stemming from the spirit of fear. So, the spirit behind what you say matters. If the new life has not settled in your mind, you cannot speak in the spirit of faith.
