The Higher Life
There is a higher life, higher because it is a life that is higher and way better than the human life and there is only one life that is superior to that of the human life, ZOE: the God life. The record tells us that God has given to us His own class of life and this life is in His son Jesus Christ. So, if any man receives Jesus, He has got the life of God in himself.
The amplified rendering of our opening scripture reads However, we possess this precious treasure [the divine Light of the Gospel] in [frail, human] vessels of earth, that the grandeur and exceeding greatness of the power may be shown to be from God and not from ourselves. The life here is referred to as the divine light of the gospel. Why is this so? God in ensuring that we have His life could have just spoken it or breathed the life into us and we would have it because He is that powerful, but it did not happen that way.
God had to build it up in a way that it would cut across everything his child would need so that when you receive the life of God, through it you can win the natural life on the earth. Little wonder scripture says in 1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. The victory that overcomes the world is our faith, meaning that every time our faith is engaged in the world, it is meant to overcome because our faith is Victory in itself.
Our faith is the level of God’s word we have received and trusted. A man cannot have faith unless he has the word (Romans 10:17) and the word is the gospel. When you receive the gospel, the gospel becomes the word of God in you and builds faith in you for by grace you are saved through faith. This then authenticates the life of God in you and God seals it by sending His spirit into you. This is the process of God.
There is a treasure in us earthen vessels. We are no longer living our lives; we have been bought with a price and this life we live is the life of God gotten by the sacrifice of Jesus. The challenging part is understanding the pathways of this life. If you miss the pathways, you do not get to arrive. As you approach and walk in these pathways, you arrive at the full of expression of the God life in you.
