The Holy of Holies

Text: Hebrews 9:3-4
"And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all, which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid roundabout with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant."

We have been on a journey for several days on consecration. We have learned so much about the tabernacle and its contents which bear significance in our present dispensation as we have become the temple of God. Today, we want to look at the final compartment of the Tabernacle which is the holy of holies. This was the most sacred place in the tabernacle and only one man, the high priest was permitted to enter just once every year with the blood of bulls sacrificed for the remission of the sins of the children of Israel. Exodus 30:10 reads, And Aaron shall make an atonement upon the horns of it once in a year with the blood of the sin offering of atonements: once in the year shall he make atonement upon it throughout your generations: it is most holy unto the LORD.

Our opening scripture shows us the contents of the most holy place. It contained the golden censer, the ark of the testimony which had in it the tablets God wrote the commandments on, the golden pot containing manna which never got spoilt and Aaron’s rod which budded though having no root and the mercy seat covering the ark of the testimony. The holy of holies had a smoke which represented the glory of God. This was the dwelling place of God in the time of the children of Israel.

Little wonder, the high priest could not come in there casually but had to go through several proceedings to be able to come in there worthily. The most holy place in our dispensation signifies the fullness of the expression of the God life because you see, the contents of the ark of the testimony were naturally not living but by reason of the presence of God, the manna did not decay and Aaron’s rod that had no root budded, signifying life. Hallelujah! Tomorrow, we delve deeper into this amazing place which is to be our reality.
