The Holy Place: ALTAR OF INCENSE
Over the past couple of days, we have been learning about the candlestick which represents the seven spirits of God which have been sent into all the earth. Today, we want to look at the final content of the holy place just before the veil separating the holy place from the holy of holies. This is the altar of incense. Just as seen in our opening scripture, the altar of incense was just before the ark with only the veil separating them.
The bible in the book of Exodus 30:7-8 tells us, And Aaron shall burn thereon sweet incense every morning: when he dresseth the lamps, he shall burn incense upon it. And when Aaron lighteth the lamps at even, he shall burn incense upon it, a perpetual incense before the LORD throughout your generations. In the days of old, Aaron the priest was to burn incense on that altar every morning and evening as he comes to light the lamps on the candlestick.
The ensuing question then is what does this represent in our dispensation? We understood from previous diet studies that the Tabernacle in our present day is us, believers and everything that was done in the tabernacle has a bearing in our dispensation. The table of incense in our day represents Prayers and the prayers offered here are the prayers of intercession. David speaking in Psalms 141:2 said, “Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice“. Your prayers are what come up to God as incense.
