The Holy Place: CANDLESTICK

Text: Isaiah 11:2
"And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD."

We have been learning about the second compartment of the Tabernacle which is the holy place and over the last few days, we studied its first content which is the table of shewbread and we learned how this relates to us in our dispensation being the living, mobile temple of God. Today, we want to begin to unravel the second content of the holy place, the candlestick.

The candlestick was made of pure gold and had a major stem and 6 other branches sprouting from the main stem so altogether, making 7 lamps that were to be lighted up with oil to give light. Scripture tells us in Leviticus 24:2 Command the children of Israel, that they bring unto thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamps to burn continually. At no point was the light in the candlestick to go out, it was continually supplied with oil.

The candlestick is a physical emblem/representation of a spiritual order. Revelation 4:5 tells us “And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thundering and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God. Remember, God told Moses to make the tabernacle using the same pattern that was shown to him on the mount.

This means that everything Moses made in the tabernacle was a representation of what he saw in the heavenlies. The candlestick represents the seven spirits of God which are living and function independently and in the full capacity of God. Tomorrow and in the days to come, we would be studying more on this subject.
