The Purging Process

Text: Titus 2:14
""Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works”. "

The process of making a vessel holy is to purify the vessel. In the Old Testament, the reference of vessels was made to instruments used in the tabernacle/temple: man-made vessels. These vessels were dedicated to the service of God and each vessel had to be purified to be used. Today, we (comprising our body, soul, and spirit and extensively all that we are and have) have become the vessels of interest for God to use and not man-made vessels. For our vessels to be used by God, He has got to purify us and all that we have by purging us.

Our opening text outlined stages for us that leads to our purification/purging. The first being that Jesus gave himself as a sacrifice on the cross – a typology of the Passover. This first revealed action of heaven brought to life the church project, for the church was born from the resurrection of Jesus, because the church is the body of Christ and is vital to everything in many ways, playing the major role in God’s plan and agenda on the earth.

The second part is that Jesus through the sacrifice he made, redeemed us from all iniquity. Thus, by our faith in the finished work of the cross of Jesus, we are redeemed and saved from our sins. But these processes do not cover the entirety of God’s plan for us. The third process showed us how God intends to have a peculiar people purified unto himself, qualified vessels raised unto God, prepared and zealous. God must after redeeming us and saving us by the blood of his son Jesus, purify us so he will consecrate us unto His service and the extent of our consecration, will determine the extent to which we will be enabled, activated, and granted by God for Kingdom service.
