The Reproach Of Sin

Text: Proverbs 14:34
"Righteousness exalteth a nation: But sin is a reproach to any people."

Our opening text tells us that righteousness exalts while sin is a reproach and this reproach is to any person not just people, same goes for righteousness. It doesn’t matter how anointed you are or the office you occupy in God’s house nor the visions you’ve received from God with tangible, multiple confirmations of it, sin is and will always be a reproach.

One of the mistakes we have made as believers is that we have let the world set the boundaries for what sin is. When God chose the children of Israel, He set the boundaries Himself and that was why He gave them certain rules and laws even to marriage. There were nations they couldn’t marry and even among themselves, if a woman gets married and it’s discovered that she wasn’t a virgin, she would be stoned to death which is why later we see Joseph trying to put away Mary privately when he discovered her pregnancy with Jesus while they were betrothed.

The question is, was God a wicked God then? The answer is no. That was His person, He cannot behold sin. In our dispensation, people hide under the umbrella of ‘GRACE’. What is grace? Grace is not here to push back the boundaries of sin. Grace is here to bring us to the Father. That’s why Apostle Paul asked the question in Romans 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid! Tomorrow, we continue in this discourse.
