The Root Of Bitterness
We have been on a journey discovering and understanding those things in our lives as believers that can limit us from maximizing God’s word; making the word of God of none effect. These things may look simple but they are very destructive for the God child. We learned that there are 4 of such factors and today, we want to look into the second which is the root of bitterness.
Notice that in our opening scripture, it says a man can fail of the grace of God. The grace of God is embedded in the word of God which is God’s instructions to you. It says in 2 Peter 1:2 grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord. What gives you the knowledge of God and our Lord Jesus is the word. In the book of Acts 20:32, Apostle Paul said ‘And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.
The Root of bitterness is that state of mind where you can be so upset and angry over something that can be nothing and scripture says through this root of bitterness, many are defiled. This begs the question, can God work in a defiled vessel? The answer is no. What the root of bitterness does to you is that it defiles you so that the word of God will not prosper in your hands.
