Understanding Righteouness:(Part III)
As believers, we have been made to realize that we ought not to approach God with our understanding but with the understanding that comes with his word. When we say we are the sons of God, we are by reason of the fact that we have received the spirit of sonship, the spirit of adoption, and that is why we call God our Father, Abba Father, therefore we are sons unto God.
In our opening text, when God said, “Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom”, God was referring to one and the same thing, in fact, he was expounding on what he said about the throne of his son.
Remember that Jesus is everywhere, in the world, in our hearts and in heaven. He is in the world, seeking the lost, which is why He came, He is in our hearts, establishing the kingdom, and He is in heaven waiting till his enemies are made his foot stool; by the ones that he is establishing the kingdom in their hearts.
Jesus is in our hearts to establish the kingdom; he lives in us as the word. Remember scripture says “thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Matt 6:10) and we understand that a man’s will is never expressed by his actions but by his words, hence, for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven, his word has to be in our heart, and that is why Jesus is in our hearts, to communicate kingdom things to us by his word and we then become the expression of the word, so that the world can see the will of God through us and we reign on the earth because we have received not just abundance of grace but the gift of righteousness. Righteousness remember, is the sceptre of our kingdom.
