Understanding Stronghold

We’ve been learning over the past few days that the believer is a soldier and has a certain war he/she fights to maintain the victory which the Lord Jesus got for us. Also, to every believer has been given weapons of warfare bearing a code called God because these weapons as scripture says are mighty through God. What are these weapons and if there are weapons, it means we’re still expected to do some fighting!

The bible also tells us what we are fighting against. It says we are to pull down strongholds, cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God and, bringing into captivity thoughts to the obedience of Christ. The bible did not tell us that we are fighting sin or the devil. Even the devil already knows that we have gotten the victory. The devil was there when Jesus made an open show of Him and his cohorts and we’ve been made one with the Lord so His victory is our victory. Hallelujah!

The weapons given to us have been designed to pull down strongholds. What are strongholds? These are not military spiritual forces or authorities from hell. Stronghold is a word transcribed from a Greek word that means fortress. Fortresses or strongholds are used as shields or security during a battle. It is the same inscription that was used in Proverbs 18:10 which reads- The name of the LORD is a strong tower: The righteous runneth into it, and is safe.
