Spiritual Endurance (2)
In the previous diet, we discussed that the devil uses offenses as a scheme to attack the believer, and that, there are three routes to a believer becoming offended, and the first is through Temptation. Today, we would be discussing the second and third routes to offenses. The second and third route to offenses is Affliction and Persecution respectively.
Afflictions are hardness that a believer is prone to have in the affairs of life. However, it is important that the believer possesses enduring strength in other to withstand hardness. Scripture tells us in 2Timothy 2: 3 “Thou, therefore, endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ”. You see, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ, you must acquire enduring strength even through the training of the Spirit. More so, as a Christian, there are persecutions that would come your way because of your faith and identity in Christ. You must be ready for such times. The Word of God tells us in 1 Peter 3: 14 ” But and If ye suffer for righteousness sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled”.
The ability of a Christian to endure persecution is beyond his willpower, it can only be by the power of God that worketh in us. A believer who can endure temptation, afflictions, and persecutions is the believer that is strengthened with the might, strength, and power of God in his inner man.
