Walking In The Light
Ever wondered what Jesus meant in our opening scripture about walking in the day? When He said in the day, He was not referring to the daytime for us. God’s analogy of day and night is different from ours. Remember in Genesis 1, God made two different kinds of lights. Verse 3 of Genesis 1 shows us the first light God made which he divided from darkness and this Light He called Day while the darkness was called Night. But this particular day and night is not the ones we see with our physical eyes.
Genesis 1:14 says And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years. The day and night we see with our optical eyes is that which was made on the fourth day. So, God made two lights but which of these is the true light to God?
Scripture tells us in John 1:9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. Who was John referring to as the true light? It was not the sun or the moon and stars, he was talking about Jesus. Jesus is the true Light that lights up every man. Hallelujah! It says in verse 4 of John 1 that In him was life; and the life was the light of men. This therefore means that when Jesus was talking about walking in the day in our opening scripture, He wasn’t making reference to the daytime hours that is visible to the human eye. He was referring to the true light, Jesus Himself.
