Watch Unto Prayer

Text: 1 Peter 4:7
"But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober and watch unto prayer."

Over the last couple of days, we learned about certain virtues of the spirit that transcribes to being sober which forms the first part of what God expects from us as the day of the Lord draws closer. Today, we want to look at the second aspect which deals with watching unto prayer. This is where the power to meet up to the expectations of heaven is released. This is where we get to find strength to do that which heaven demands in readiness for the coming of our Lord.

In these last days, the bible did not tell us to focus entirely on the word, there is a place of prayer it has brought us into. Focus on the word of God is actually found in the place of soberness because it requires intentionality and seriousness to study the word of God but prayers have been isolated for a reason.

Moreso, you need the word of God to pray effective prayers according to the will of God because the word delivers the will of God to you. Jesus who is the embodiment of the Word of God needed prayers and prayed to receive strength for the journey to the cross, how much more you. The believer that would survive in these last days will not play with prayers or treat it casually.

Firstly, the bible gives us four types of prayers according to 1 Timothy 2:1 which reads “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men. Everything this scripture talks about centers on prayers, but it gives us the four dimensions of prayers in the spirit which helps the God child grow in his/her prayer life. Over the next couple of days, we would be going deeper into these dimensions.
