Why First Fruit:(Part II)

Yesterday, we learned the first reason why we give our firstfruit to God which is Honour. The second reason is that it is a spiritual affair to God more than it is an instruction. Scripture in Romans 11:16 says for if the first fruit be holy, the lump is also holy; and if the root be holy, so are the branches. When we give our firstfruit to the Lord, we declare the rest. This means that your first fruit determines the rest of your year.

The importance of this cannot be over emphasized, You can ensure the rest of the year before you even journey through it by this principle. As you give your first fruit, it declares the rest of the year and your proceeds holy for you. It determines the results and the produce for your year because you see, our opening scripture talks about the firstfruit of all our increase. A new year is an increase in your life the same way a new job or promotion or business expansion is an increase. And for every time you obey the principle of firstfruit for every increase, it ensures the hand of God on that increase.

But beyond this is the fact that the principle of firstfruit holds the very core of our Christian faith. It was instituted for God’s eternal purpose. 1 Corinthians 15:20 says But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first fruits of them that slept. God was the first to obey this principle and gave us Jesus and as He did, He ensured the rest of us all that follow Christ. This means that because Jesus is holy then we are, if he is righteous then we are, if he is the son of God ,then we are and if he arose from the dead, then we shall.  Most importantly, if he ascended into heaven then shall we, hallelujah!
